The oldest neighborhood in Rochester, The 'Third Ward' was home to native americans, early settlers, freed slaves, wealthy investors, and businessmen. No one knows the true origin of the Corn Hill name; the most widely accepted is that corn crops were grown in the vicinity and sailors and captains near their bearings one the Genesee River when they saw the 'corn hill.' The graphic and color of the shirt references this prominent nickname of the Third Ward.
The Rochester subway system traveled west to east servicing as much of the city neighborhoods as possible: Residents and visitors of Corn Hill would jump on and off the City Hall station for access.
